Many people search for Sculptra under the eyes to improve bags, dark circles or a hollow look. Understandable, because the under-eye area strongly determines how fresh you look. At Dr T. however, we strictly adhere to what is safe and what gives a natural result. This means: we do not use Sculptra directly under the eyes. We clearly explain why, what does work, and how we gradually work towards a soft, subtle rejuvenation. Want to learn more about collagen-stimulating treatments? The skin around your eyes is thin and sensitive. Precisely for that reason, safety is extra important here. Sculptra is a biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid. It stimulates your own collagen production, thereby gradually providing more firmness and a slight lift. In the T-zone of the face, i.e. the forehead, around the eyes, nose and mouth, we deliberately do not choose Sculptra at Dr T. In this region, other products and techniques are safer and more delicately dosed.
In concrete terms: we do not do Sculptra under the eyes. For the tear trough or the direct under-eye area, we mostly work with hyaluronic acid fillers that we place very subtly. That material is specifically developed for delicate zones, well-dosed, and correctable if needed.
There are three paths that often together yield a beautiful, natural result. In your consultation we look at which combination suits you, taking into account skin quality, volume and your expression.
When shadowing arises from a hollow or volume loss, a hyaluronic acid filler under the eyes can soften the transition between cheek and under-eye. The effect is often immediately visible and looks fresh when we dose subtly. In cheeks and cheekbones, the result usually remains visible for 18 to 24 months, in the tear trough or the under-eye region for 9 to 12 months. The treatment typically takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Even though we do not place Sculptra under the eyes, we can indirectly strengthen the surrounding area. Think of the temple region or lateral cheek. By improving the skin structure and tension there, the under-eye area often automatically appears less hollow and less tired. This way your look can appear more open, without using Sculptra in the T-zone. Sculptra generally provides a gradual lifting effect as collagen increases.
For fine lines or some dullness, we improve the quality of the skin with skin boosters based on hyaluronic acid in micro-droplets. The goal is hydration, a glow and a supple texture. Results last on average 4 to 6 months. This can be a nice addition to volume treatments.
| Treatment | Applicable area | Visible | Duration of result | Best for | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sculptra (biostimulator) | Temple, lateral cheek, jawline. Not in the T-zone around eyes. | Gradually after a few weeks | Long-lasting, evolving through collagen production | Subtle lift, firming, contour | No direct placement under the eyes |
| Hyaluronic acid in the tear trough | Direct under-eye region with volume loss | Mostly immediately | Often 9 to 12 months in this zone | Shadow from hollowing, soft cheek-to-eye transition | Careful dosing to avoid irregularities |
| Skin boosters (micro-droplets) | Skin quality around the eyes and cheeks | After a few weeks | 4 to 6 months | Hydration, fine lines, glow | No volume building, so not for deep hollows |
Safety and comfort come first. Most treatments take 20 to 30 minutes. You usually feel some pinpricks and light pressure. With hyaluronic acid under the eyes, you often see a difference immediately. With Sculptra, the effect develops gradually as your own collagen builds up. Skin boosters give a fresher look after a few weeks thanks to better hydration.
We always recommend simple aftercare, such as cooling if swollen and taking it easy for the first 24 hours. Possible small bruises are possible and usually fade quickly. You can always return if necessary for an evaluation or adjustment. This way we keep the result subtle and natural.
At Dr T. everything starts with listening. We look at your expressions, feel the skin quality and analyze volume and structure. Based on that, we discuss which approach gives the most effect with the least invasive means. We use Sculptra where it is safe and where it shows its lifting and firming potential. Under the eyes, we specifically choose hyaluronic acid or skin improvement with micro-droplets.

These are the fixed points on which we assess and compare:
Sculptra is ideal for firming the skin and subtly lifting facial features through collagen production. Think of the jawline, lateral cheek and the region around the temple. This often gives a more youthful contour, making the look appear fresher without directly affecting the under-eye area. Want to know more about this contouring effect, check out our info on Sculptra for the jawline.
We do not use Sculptra in the T-zone. For the tear trough we carefully use hyaluronic acid. With a fine skin texture or smoker’s lines, we rather choose skin boosters. And for crow’s feet, a neurotoxin is sometimes suitable at the side of the eye, but not directly under the eyes. Neurotoxins usually work within a few hours to 3 days. We always tailor this personally.
Everyone is different, but these three recognizable situations provide direction. They also immediately show why Sculptra under the eyes is not an option for us, and which combinations do work.
This often indicates volume loss. We then usually choose hyaluronic acid in the tear trough, sometimes supplemented with subtle volume in the cheekbone. We may strengthen the temple or lateral cheek with Sculptra to lift the whole without treating the T-zone. The result looks natural and the look becomes softer.
Here skin boosters are very rewarding. They improve hydration and glow. When there is also volume loss, we top it up specifically with hyaluronic acid. Support with Sculptra outside the T-zone can add extra tension to the skin and optically open the region.
Fine lines can be improved with skin boosters or a limited neurotoxin at the side of the eye, not under the eye. Sometimes a cheekbone accent already gives a fresher look, because it subtly lifts the tissues. It remains custom work, with your natural expression as the starting point.
We like to keep it transparent. The exact combination and quantity determine the cost. If you want a sense of the order of magnitude per technique, check the price overview. During your consultation, we will together create a concrete plan that fits your goals. Often a targeted combination is more efficient than one single procedure.

Book an appointmentIn aesthetic medicine, Sculptra is not a classic filler but a biostimulator. The active substance, poly-L-lactic acid, prompts the skin to produce collagen naturally. As a result, it does not fill instantly, but rebuilds the skin structure from within, with gradual firming and a subtle lift, without a filled-up look.
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which add volume immediately, Sculptra requires patience. After two to three sessions, you see your skin become firmer month after month. The effect remains visible for 2 years on average, often longer. That is longer than with most fillers. In practice, I use it to restore contour in the cheeks, jawline and temples, but never directly under the eyes. There I prefer to work with alternatives that aim for the same natural result but are gentler on that sensitive area.
Sculptra is suitable if your facial volume is decreasing and you don't want to look 'treated'. Do you feel your cheeks sinking a little, is your jawline becoming less defined, or do your temples look hollower? Then I use Sculptra to restore the underlying firmness, while your skin feels supple and natural.
For a hollow look or a deep tear trough, I do not use Sculptra: the eyes belong to the T-zone. The thin skin around the eyes sometimes reacts unpredictably to biostimulation. That is why, in that area, I choose a refined tear trough filler or I stimulate collagen production from the cheek, at a safe distance. Also keep in mind that Sculptra requires several sessions. Don't expect a quick transformation, but a step-by-step, harmonious improvement that others notice without being able to pinpoint it.
