The area under your eyes is thin, sensitive, and strongly determines how rested you look. Due to genetics, skin aging, or volume loss in the cheeks, a groove can become visible, known as the tear trough. Under-eye fillers based on hyaluronic acid subtly fill that hollow. The light then reflects more evenly, reducing shadow and a tired look.
When is it less indicated? For pronounced fat pockets or excess skin, a surgical approach may sometimes be more logical. Also, with strong fluid retention or very thin, delicate skin, you must be cautious. In a consultation, Dr T. discusses your anatomy, expectations, and the pros and cons. We only choose fillers around the eyes if it is safe and meaningful. Sometimes we advise first a tear trough treatment in combination with subtle support in the midface.
For the under-eye area, Dr T. chooses a hyaluronic acid filler with suitable consistency and elasticity, so it looks natural and integrates well with the tissue. Hyaluronic acid is a body's own molecule that retains water and thus provides soft filling and hydration.
Longevity: in the cheeks and cheekbones, we often see that the effect remains visible for 18 to 24 months, in the tear trough 9 to 12 months. This falls within the typical duration of action of hyaluronic acid fillers, which varies from 9 to 24 months, depending on factors such as product, zone, metabolism, and lifestyle. In dynamic zones, such as the lips, the effect generally remains visible for between 9 and 12 months, which is shorter than in the cheeks and cheekbones. Skinboosters with microdrops of hyaluronic acid mainly provide hydration and glow and usually remain visible for 4 to 6 months.
Do you mainly want to reduce the shadow under your eyes and let the whole blend with your cheeks? Then a small correction in the tear trough, possibly combined with subtle support in the midface, can give a beautiful and subtle effect. Read more about shadow and volume on our page about tackling shadows and bags.
At Dr T. everything starts with listening. We discuss your wishes, look at your facial expressions, and assess your skin quality and anatomy. Based on that, we propose a personal treatment plan. We strive for a fresh, relaxed appearance that suits your age and face.
The treatment itself usually takes twenty to thirty minutes. We work with a fine needle or cannula, choose the appropriate depth and dosage, and continuously monitor symmetry and naturalness. Comfort is central. You may sometimes feel a light pressure, but we do everything to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
Afterwards, you can generally continue with your day immediately. Light swelling or a small bruise may occur. These usually disappear quickly. If necessary, you can come back later for an evaluation or adjustment.

In some cases, we first advise subtle support in the cheeks or along the cheekbone to soften the transition to the under-eye area. For structural reinforcement in the midface, a biostimulator such as Sculptra can be useful. Important: we do not use Sculptra around the eyes, nor in the nose, mouth, or forehead. A lift in the cheeks can indirectly help make the tear trough less visible and softer.
In the cheeks, the result of hyaluronic acid fillers often remains visible for 18 to 24 months, in the tear trough 9 to 12 months. That depends on factors such as your metabolism, facial movements in the region, product choice, and lifestyle. Intense exercise, smoking, and lots of sun can accelerate breakdown. With a thoughtful product choice and subtle placement, you can maintain the natural effect for a long time.
We do not schedule automatic repeat appointments after a fixed number of weeks. You can come back if needed for an evaluation or adjustment. This way, we keep the result natural and tailored to your face.
For under-eye fillers, experience, technique, and product choice are crucial. Common, temporary side effects are light swelling, redness, or a bruise. Rarer risks are asymmetry, visible translucency with incorrect placement, and in exceptional cases, vascular complications. We limit risks through a thorough anatomical analysis, cautious dosage, and correct placement in the appropriate tissue layer. If necessary, hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, making the treatment reversible.

That approach is the difference between a quick correction and a harmonious result that strengthens your self-confidence. Do you also want to refine other areas? Then read how we combine subtle fillers in the face for a natural whole.
We discuss your wishes, medical history, and look at your face at rest and in motion. We feel the transition from the under-eye area to the cheekbone and assess skin quality.
We clearly explain what fillers around the eyes do and do not do. Sometimes support in the midface is indicated first. We choose the right hyaluronic acid profile, dosage, and technique.
Usually visible for 20 to 30 minutes. Fine needle or cannula, slow placement, continuous monitoring of symmetry and natural light. Comfort is central.
Light swelling may occur. Cooling is sometimes pleasant. You can generally continue with your day right away.
The result settles into place in the following days. If you have questions, you can always reach us. You can come back if needed for an evaluation or subtle adjustment.
Case 1: you are 34, athletic, and have had a slight hollow since your youth. Under-eye fillers in a small dosage soften the groove and immediately make your look fresher. Because your skin is young and thin, we choose a smooth product and slow buildup.
Case 2: you are 52 and notice a shadow that extends to the cheek. Then a combination often gives the most beautiful result: subtle support along the cheekbone, combined with a correction of the tear trough. This makes the transition softer and ensures that the light falls more naturally on your cheeks.
Case 3: you have pronounced bags with excess skin. Then a filler is not the best option. We then discuss alternatives and what is realistic. Everything proceeds honestly, clearly, and respectfully.

On the first day after fillers around the eyes, it's best to avoid intense rubbing and firm pressure on the area. Sleep with your head slightly elevated if there is swelling. Also avoid extreme heat. Hydrate your skin and drink plenty of water. Don't worry if there is slight asymmetry due to swelling, that usually subsides. If you have questions, we are reachable. You can later come back for an evaluation or a small adjustment if needed.
The greatest compliment is when people say: “You look good.” Not: “What did you have done?” Fillers around the eyes are a means to achieve that effect, not an end in itself. We choose subtle accents, in line with your age, anatomy, and personality. Too much volume under the eye makes no one happy.
Do you recognize the shadow or hollow and want to know if under-eye fillers suit your face? Or are you hesitating between a skinbooster, support in the midface, or another filler? During a consultation, I listen to your wishes, show examples, and you receive an honest proposal. Would you like to discuss this calmly? Book an appointment. We take the time and work together on a plan that emphasizes your natural beauty.
Fillers around the eyes can safely and subtly soften the hollow of the tear trough and brighten your look. The effect is often visible for 9 to 12 months. Not everyone is a candidate, and sometimes a combination with support in the cheeks or an alternative is wiser. At Dr T. you get a personal plan, clear explanation, and tailored aftercare. That way, you feel like yourself, but fresher.

The secret of a beautiful, undetectable result under the eyes lies in precision and restraint. The skin around the eyes is wafer-thin, and any overfilling is immediately noticeable as a bulge or a bluish tinge through the so-called Tyndall effect. That is why Dr T. always works with microcannulas and injects small, deeply placed deposits of just 0.1 to 0.3 ml per side. This approach restores lost volume from the deep fat compartments without disturbing the superficial skin. We deliberately aim for a slight undercorrection and invite you back after two weeks for a subtle touch-up if needed. The aim is that you keep your own, natural expression.
Although hyaluronic acid fillers are the first choice for the tear trough, the surrounding tissue plays a major role. The hollow under the eye is often the result of volume loss in the cheek area. In such cases, Dr T. combines the tear trough filler with a biostimulating treatment of the midface, for example with Sculptra or hyperdiluted Radiesse, to restore support from below. Directly under the eyes, however, we deliberately avoid biostimulators, because of the risk of irregular nodules. For skin improvement in that sensitive area, skinboosters or PRP are in turn excellent, gentle alternatives.
