Do you have dark circles, a hollow tear trough or a tired-looking eye area, and are you wondering what an under-eye filler costs? That's a fair question, because the price depends on your situation and not on a fixed rate from a price list. On this page, read honestly what determines the price of under-eye fillers, how the treatment at Dr T. in Ghent works and when a filler is not the best choice for you. During a consultation, you'll receive a clear estimate that truly fits you.

An under-eye filler is placed in the so-called tear trough, the hollow between your lower eyelid and your cheek. Using a hyaluronic acid filler, that area is subtly filled, making the transition between eye and cheek smoother and giving your face a less tired appearance.
Dark circles are often enhanced by shadowing in a hollow tear trough. By gently filling that hollow, less shadow falls, giving your gaze a fresher and calmer look. The goal is never a filled or puffy effect, but a natural and respectful result that belongs to your face.
Important to know: a filler does not change the pigmentation of your skin. If your dark circles are mainly due to pigment or thin, translucent skin, a filler can improve the appearance but not completely solve it. We discuss this honestly during your consultation.
A tear trough filler is particularly suitable if you have a clear hollow or shadow under the eyes that makes you look older or more tired than you feel. With a beautiful, smooth transition between eye and cheek, a filler adds little and we would rather not recommend the treatment.
The under-eye area is one of the most delicate areas of the face. With pronounced bags, fluid accumulation, a strongly overhanging lower eyelid or very thin skin, a filler can actually disturb the appearance instead of improving it. In those cases, we are honest and sometimes suggest a different approach or no treatment.
Also, with certain autoimmune conditions or active infections in the face, a filler is not recommended. During pregnancy or breastfeeding, we never place a filler. Dr T. always thoroughly reviews your medical history before anything is decided.
Everything starts with a calm consultation. Dr T. examines the area under your eyes, listens to what bothers you and assesses whether a filler is the right solution. Only after that comes a concrete proposal and an honest price estimate, so you know where you stand before anything happens.
For the treatment itself, we use a hyaluronic acid filler and usually a fine, flexible cannula to minimize the risk of bruising and contact with blood vessels. The filler is carefully placed in small amounts, each time checking the result.
The treatment usually takes half an hour to three quarters of an hour. Some local anesthesia can be used for your comfort. Afterwards, you receive clear aftercare advice, such as not massaging the area firmly in the first days.
The result is partially visible immediately after the treatment, but it's normal for the area to feel a bit swollen the first days. The final, natural result is usually visible only after one to two weeks, when the swelling has gone and the filler has settled.
An under-eye filler is temporary. How long the result lasts varies from person to person and depends on the product, your metabolism and the area. In the tear trough, the effect typically remains visible for 9 to 12 months, but a touch-up after some time is normal.
Sometimes a small touch-up after a few weeks is needed to refine the result. That's not a sign that something went wrong, but part of a careful, subtle approach where we prefer to work too cautiously rather than too much.
As with any injection, bruising, slight swelling or tenderness can occur after a tear trough filler. This usually resolves within a few days to a week. The skin under the eyes is thin, so bruising is a bit more likely here than elsewhere.
Specifically for this area, there is a risk that the filler attracts fluid and causes slight swelling or a bluish haze (the so-called Tyndall effect). That's why we deliberately work with small amounts and with a product and technique that suit this delicate area.
Hyaluronic acid fillers have the advantage that in most cases they can be dissolved if you don't like the result or in case of a complication. Very rare but serious risks, such as blockage of a blood vessel, Dr T. openly discusses with you, along with how we prevent them as much as possible.
The price of an under-eye filler depends on several things: the amount of product needed, the type of filler, how pronounced your tear trough is and whether one treatment is enough or a light touch-up is advisable. That's why we don't work with a single fixed amount that fits everyone.
During your consultation, Dr T. looks at your situation specifically and gives you an honest estimate of the cost, before anything is decided. That way, you know upfront where you stand and choose calmly, without surprises afterwards.
Do you want to know what an under-eye filler would cost in your case and whether it's the right choice? Then schedule a consultation with Dr T. in Ghent. We will look at it together and give you honest advice, even if that means a treatment is not necessary.

A common question in natural rejuvenation is: should I choose a classic filler or biostimulation? The right path hinges on what your skin genuinely requires. Hyaluronic acid fillers instantly restore volume, perfect for deep tear troughs or asymmetry. Biostimulators like Sculptra, on the other hand, go beneath the surface. They nudge your own skin into producing fresh collagen. This process unfolds gradually, but it yields firmer, healthier skin that never appears 'overdone'.
Around the eyes, blending both modalities is common. A delicate hyaluronic acid filler refills the tear trough, while a biostimulator elevates the skin quality of the adjacent zones (we do not use Sculptra around the eyes). You avoid looking simply 'plumped up'; instead, the skin tightens and regains resilience. That's a deliberate choice by Dr T.: a refreshed, wide-awake look that nobody will suspect came from a treatment.
For every eye concern, a suitable approach
Every gaze is unique. Discover which treatment best suits your concern.
Your eyes look hollow and tired, even after a good night's sleep. A hyaluronic acid filler in the tear trough restores volume and softens the transition between eyelid and cheek, without anyone noticing.
The skin under your eyes is paper-thin and shows shadows. Skinboosters or mild biostimulators strengthen the skin barrier, improve hydration and thicken the skin, reducing circles.
You see the first signs of skin aging: lines and less firmness. A combination of fillers and biostimulation addresses both volume loss and skin quality for a fresh, natural eye expression.
Dr. Thierry De Smedt welcomes you to his practice in Ghent, centrally located for those living in East Flanders and beyond. Thanks to his years of surgical and aesthetic experience, you are assured of a safe, medically sound treatment with a natural result.
The under-eye area is delicate and demands precision. We therefore use only premium products and a precise injection technique with a cannula, minimising bruising and swelling. Your consultation covers your medical history; we rule out any contraindications before proceeding.
After treatment, mild swelling or redness is normal, typically fading within 24 to 48 hours. For a few days, steer clear of intense exercise, saunas, and strong sun. Any concerns? Just call us. Hyaluronidase provides an additional safety layer: it can dissolve hyaluronic acid filler if the outcome isn't what you expected.
At Dr T. healthy skin and open dialogue are foundational. You'll feel listened to and safe, from your very first question through to your final check-up.
We calculate your tailored cost during a consultation, no surprises, just honest advice.
