Want to know what a jawline filler does to your face, before and after the treatment? On this page, we honestly tell you what to expect: how your jawline changes, when you'll see the result, and what is realistic for your face. We don't just show you the "after". A good result starts with an honest assessment of your starting point. Sometimes filler is the right choice, sometimes it isn't, and we simply say so.

A jawline filler gives definition to the lower edge of your face. Before the treatment, your jawline may appear less defined, for example due to volume loss, slight jowls, or a less pronounced jaw angle. The transition from cheek to chin then runs softer and less tight.
After the treatment, that transition is sharper and more harmonious. We apply filler along the jaw angle and the lower edge, so the line from ear to chin becomes clearer. We aim for a face that looks tighter and more balanced, without appearing unnatural or "filled".
Important: the difference between before and after is deliberately subtle at Dr T. We want to enhance your own face, not change it. People often notice you look fresher, without being able to pinpoint exactly what is different.
A jawline filler suits you well if your jawline naturally lacks definition, or if you have lost volume along the lower edge due to aging. Also, slight early jowls or a somewhat rounder lower face can benefit from more structure along the jawline.
Sometimes filler is not the best choice. With significant skin laxity or pronounced jowls, adding volume does not give a nice result and can actually make your face heavier. Also, with a wide jawline due to a strong chewing muscle, the cause lies elsewhere, and we look at other options. During a consultation, we honestly tell you whether filler really adds something for you.
If you have an active skin infection or inflammation in the jaw area, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, we postpone the treatment. Safety and good timing always come first.
We start with a consultation where we look at your face at rest and in motion. We listen to what bothers you and what you expect, and we honestly show what is and isn't achievable. Only when you feel good about the plan do we proceed.
The treatment itself usually takes a short time. We work with fillers that contain a numbing agent and, where appropriate, use a blunt cannula to limit bruising and make the injection more comfortable. We build up the result gradually and regularly check the symmetry between left and right.
Afterwards, you immediately see a difference. We discuss the aftercare with you: the first few days, do not massage your jaw firmly, avoid intense exercise, sauna, and alcohol, and leave the area alone so the filler can settle in nicely.
The first result is immediately visible after the treatment. In the first days, there may be some swelling or a bruise, so you are not seeing the final picture yet. That is normal and part of the recovery.
You can judge the real "after" once the swelling has gone and the filler has settled. Then you see the final definition of your jawline. If in doubt, we are happy to schedule a follow-up to look together if any minor adjustments are needed.
How long the result lasts varies per person and depends on the product, the area, and your own metabolism. A jawline filler lasts 12 to 18 months on average; a touch-up session keeps the result up to par. During the consultation, we discuss what is realistic for you.
Most side effects are mild and temporary: redness, slight swelling, tenderness, or a bruise at the injection site. That usually subsides within a few days and you can easily cover it with a bit of camouflage.
Rarer risks also exist, such as lumps, asymmetry, or, very exceptionally, a vascular issue. That is why anatomical knowledge and a careful technique are so important. We use hyaluronic acid fillers that are, if necessary, dissolvable, so we can adjust if something is not satisfactory.
If you experience increasing pain, a white or blotchy discoloration of the skin, or other unusual symptoms after the treatment, contact us immediately. We clearly explain beforehand what to look out for, so you can go home reassured.
The price of a jawline filler depends on a few things: how much product your jawline needs, the type of filler, and whether it is a first build-up or a maintenance session. A less defined jawline sometimes requires more than a slight refinement.
We don't use sales talk or teaser prices. During your consultation, you get an honest estimate tailored to your face and goal, so you know what to expect beforehand and nothing surprises you afterwards.
Want to know what a jawline filler can mean for you, and what your before and after realistically looks like? Feel free to schedule a consultation with Dr T. in Ghent. We'll look together if it suits you, and also honestly say when something else is a better choice.
