Do you want fuller lips, but are you afraid of an overdone or unnatural result? With a hyaluronic acid-based lip filler, we can give your lips subtle extra volume, shape and hydration, completely tailored to your face. The goal is always the same: a result that suits you, not one that stands out. On this page, you can read calmly what lip filling exactly entails, who it is and isn't suitable for, how a treatment at Dr T. proceeds, and what you can realistically expect in terms of results and recovery.

When filling lips, we use a hyaluronic acid-based filler, a substance your body naturally produces and that binds water. As a result, your lips not only gain some volume, but also hydration and a softer texture.
Lip filling is about much more than just "making them bigger". Often we work on the shape: a beautiful bow of the upper lip, more definition of the lip borders, or restoring balance between the upper and lower lip. Sometimes the goal is subtle hydration rather than adding volume.
The hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by your body naturally over time. So a lip filler is temporary, not permanent, leaving room to adjust the result in the future as your taste evolves and your face changes.
Lip filling can be suitable if your lips are naturally narrow, if they have lost some volume and definition over the years, or if you find a slight asymmetry between your upper and lower lip bothersome. Fine lines around the mouth can also be part of the picture.
There are situations where we honestly advise to wait or not to treat. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, we do not perform lip fillers. Also in case of an active infection or cold sore around the mouth, certain autoimmune or clotting disorders, or a known allergy to the products, we postpone or look for an alternative.
If you have an unrealistic expectation or want a very obvious, striking result, we will be honest during the consultation. The philosophy of Dr T. is subtle and respectful: if a treatment does not benefit your face, we advise against it.
Everything starts with a consultation. We look at your lips in proportion to the rest of your face, listen to what you want to achieve, and discuss what is realistic and suitable. Only when you feel comfortable with the plan do we proceed with the treatment.
Before the treatment, we usually apply a numbing cream, and many fillers also contain a numbing agent themselves to keep it comfortable. With a fine needle or a microcannula, we place the hyaluronic acid very precisely and in small amounts, building the result step by step.
The treatment itself usually doesn't take long. Afterwards, you will receive clear aftercare instructions. Your lips may feel a bit swollen for the first few days; this is normal and part of the recovery.
Immediately after the treatment, you will already see volume, but your lips will also be somewhat swollen at that time. The true, final result is best assessed after about two weeks, once the swelling has subsided and the filler has nicely integrated.
A lip filler is temporary. How long the result lasts varies from person to person and depends on your metabolism, the product used, and the amount. Over time, the effect gradually fades, after which you can choose to get a touch-up or leave it as is.
We prefer to work in layers rather than adding a lot of volume at once. A somewhat conservative approach with a possible small touch-up later gives a more natural and safer result than too much at once.
After filling your lips, mild swelling, redness, tenderness, and sometimes a small bruise are normal. This is part of the treatment and usually resolves within a few days to a good week. A slightly irregular feeling in the first few days may also occur as the filler settles.
There are rarer but more serious risks, such as an infection or, very exceptionally, a vascular problem where blood flow is compromised. That is why it is important that your lips are treated by a doctor who knows the anatomy and knows how to act if something goes wrong. Hyaluronic acid fillers have the advantage of being dissolvable in emergencies.
We take the time to discuss all possible side effects with you before we start and give you clear instructions on what to watch for and when to contact us. Honest information is part of a safe choice.
The price of lip filling cannot be captured in one fixed amount. It depends on the type of filler, the amount needed for your desired result, and whether it is a first treatment or a touch-up.
During the consultation, we'll look at what makes sense in your case and you'll receive an honest, transparent estimate of the cost, so you know upfront what to expect. You never decide under pressure.
Are you still unsure if a lip filler is for you? During a consultation at Dr T. we look at it together, calmly and without obligation, and give you honest advice, even if that advice is to do nothing (for now).
