A smoker's lines filler treatment softens fine lines around the mouth for smoother skin and a fresher look.

Smoker's lines are fine vertical lines around the mouth that can arise from skin aging, repeated muscle movements, or loss of volume and elasticity. With a filler treatment, these lines are subtly softened and the skin around the lips gets renewed support. The filler is carefully and superficially applied, so that the skin texture improves without changing the natural appearance of the lips. The goal is a fresh and relaxed look, with the mouth area appearing softer and the fine lines less visible.
The treatment starts with a consultation in which the mouth area and smoker's lines are analyzed. Then the filler is applied superficially into the skin with very fine injections. This approach ensures a more even skin texture and a natural result, without overcorrection or change of the lip shape.
The filler treatment for smoker's lines is suitable for adults who:
The treatment is never performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is less suitable for people with certain medical conditions. In these cases, prior medical advice is recommended.
The recovery time is usually limited. Slight swelling, redness, or small bruises may occur but usually disappear within a few days. Most daily activities can be resumed immediately.
The result is quickly visible and lasts an average of 6 to 9 months, depending on skin type, muscle activity, and lifestyle.

Don't:

For the fine vertical lines around the mouth, we exclusively use high-quality hyaluronic acid fillers with a supple, thin consistency. Brands such as Restylane Refyne or Belotero Balance subtly integrate into the superficial skin layer without lumps or visible edges. These fillers naturally move with your facial expressions, so you can still smile, talk, and drink as if nothing has changed. The result: an even texture, no loss of expression.
I almost always work with a cannula instead of a needle. A cannula is a blunt, flexible tip that minimally traumatizes the tissue. As a result, significantly fewer bruises and swellings occur. The filler is distributed in tiny amounts linearly or with microdrops along the lines. Immediately afterwards, I gently massage the product in so it spreads evenly through the tissue. Because smoker's lines are so fine, precision is key: every drop counts. This approach prevents the typical 'overfilled' look that I specifically aim to avoid in my practice.
For those who are extra sensitive, I can add a minimal injection of local anesthetic. You will feel at most slight pressure during the treatment, rarely any real pain. Also after the procedure, comfort remains high: we cool briefly and give clear instructions to limit swelling.
Recognize this?
Fine lines around the mouth can make your expression harsher than you feel. These situations often recur in my practice:
Due to vertical shadow lines, your mouth corners appear downturned. Filler evens that out subtly and gives your face a more open, softer touch.
The first signs of aging around the mouth are often hereditary. Filler cautiously delays that moment without it being noticeable.
When the skin texture is no longer tight, color bleeds into the fine lines. A filler treatment restores the smooth canvas.
Filler is reversible and adapts to your wishes. No permanent commitment, but a visible refinement.
Subtle and expert
A well-executed filler treatment is invisible; you only notice that you look fresher. That requires expertise, anatomical insight, and restraint.
I combine years of experience in aesthetic medicine with a solid foundation in surgery. Anatomy is my compass, safety my reflex.
My handbrake is ON. I start from your natural proportions and build up slowly. A corrected line is more beautiful than an erased mouth.
Sometimes half a syringe is enough. I don't sell you a product, but a plan: we look together at what your skin can handle and what your budget allows.
Because I only use RAL-tested products from renowned brands, risks remain minimal. And you can reach me day and night if something arises after the treatment.
Your questions
Filler directly fills the lines. But if you also want to improve the skin quality around the mouth, firmer, fuller, with more elasticity, then biostimulation comes into the picture. We do not use Sculptra for this: the area around the mouth belongs to the T-zone (forehead, eyes, nose and around the mouth). Skinboosters or PRP can improve the texture of the mouth area. The result is not immediate but builds up over weeks. That slow, natural buildup fits perfectly with a discreet end result.
A hyaluronic acid filler tackles the volume loss in fine lines directly. Skinboosters or PRP work on the quality of the surrounding skin. In my practice, I often combine both: I treat the line with a thin filler and improve the surrounding skin for an overall quality boost.
Usually we start with filler for the immediate effect and then plan the skin improvement. I follow up with photos and skin analyses so we can adjust the course. This approach is ideal if you notice that your smoker's lines continue to deepen over time, despite previous filler treatments.
The lifespan of the filler is influenced by your skincare routine and lifestyle. Use an SPF 30 or higher daily to slow down UV degradation of the hyaluronic acid. Moisturizing creams with ceramides or glycerin keep the skin barrier intact, which supports the filler. Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption accelerate the breakdown, an extra motivation to quit. Once the lines become visible again, a maintenance treatment can extend the look. Usually that is after six to nine months. At Dr T., we evaluate during a free follow-up consultation whether a touch-up is desired.
